OUR MISSION

"Our community exists to transform culture through prayer and worship, by exalting the name of Jesus and providing a resting place for His presence"

The heart behind the Monroe House of Prayer is beautifully captured in Psalm 27:4:

"One thing I have desired of the Lord, that will I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord and inquire in His temple."

We wholeheartedly believe Monroe and the surrounding region will conform to the Kingdom of Heaven, as we prioritize the exaltation of Jesus and declare the Word of God through specific hourly sets of prayer and worship dedicated to government, families, education, the ending of abortion, and the specific needs of our community. We will see the spiritually dead raised to life, orphans become sons and daughters, and every sphere of society in our city and region touched by signs, wonders, and miracles!

We believe the Lord is restoring the tabernacle of David (Amos 9:11-15, Acts 15:16-17) in the earth and it is the heart of the Monroe House of Prayer to partner with the plans and purposes of God. We desire to raise up anointed intercessors, singers, and musicians that will usher in the return of our King - Jesus!

PROPHETIC HISTORY

The Monroe House of Prayer is the product of decades of intercession, both in homes and corporate meetings. Many believers in Monroe and the surrounding region have been contending in prayer for our city. MHOP is the fruit of the prayers of these saints. Our staff includes the children, and grandchildren of these believers who were faithful in prayer and believed for our city to experience revival.

Almost 15 years ago, a Saturday morning intercessory group felt led to move their prayer gathering from the current sanctuary of North Monroe Street Church to the old sanctuary, which was not in use.  God was using them to birth something in the spirit.  One morning during their time of prayer the spirit of the Lord fell and they began to prophesy that a house of prayer would be established in Monroe.  Little did they know it was to be built on the very ground where they were standing.  Simultaneously across the city of Monroe and the region there were pockets of believers who were faithfully gathering in prayer asking the Lord to move in our city.  The Lord, in His perfect timing, began to unite these groups

As the churches of Monroe began to increase in unity, the hunger for prayer and a move of God became apparent.  It was in this climate that MHOP was birthed.  After attempting to secure different locations for the house of prayer, the old sanctuary of North Monroe Street Church was offered.  In August of 2019, almost 15 years after an intercessory group declared the heart of God, we began to turn the old sanctuary into the Monroe House of Prayer.  We opened our doors for essential staff on Monday, June 22nd 2020!  We are partnering with the Lord to see the restoration of David's tabernacle, we pray you will join us!
